Day 181/365 - Single Key

Ok, so near the end of the day I was actually bored at work for the first time. So I started looking for things around me to photograph. I see people sometimes with 5 to 10 keys on their key rings. I just have this one. It's very easy to carry in your pocket and if I lose it, it's the only one i need to replace.

Day 180/365 - Hammock

After a long day at work, I came home and relaxed for a bit on our brand new hammock. The weather was warm but had a cool, almost like sea breeze in the air.

Day 178/365 - Thin Ice

Had some game time with my kids today. We played a game we just got the other day called Thin Ice. Each player puts a wet ball on a thin tissue without breaking it. It was fun so I captured the moment.

Day 177/365 - Growing Something On The Deck

My daughter (5) and my wife (??) planted a variety of seeds into some dirt and placed it on the deck. It now looks like something is actually growing. Not the prettiest picture, but definitely worth capturing.

Day 174/365 - Steering Wheel

So I was parked outside of our local auto repair shop waiting for my wife to drop her car off. So I thought i would take an iPhone photo of my steering wheel. To be honest, it's not a very exciting picture. I won't lie to you, or should I say, I won't steer you in the wrong. ;)

Day 173/365 - Message In A Bottle?

Ok, so my kids got a small rubber lizard that was about 2" long. We squeezed it into an empty 2 litter bottle and filled it up with water. Now the thing is the size of the bottle. So what I was thinking was to bring this out sea and drop it into the ocean with a note inside as well saying:

Dear Friend, please take care of my pet lizard as I have been stranded on a desert island and cant take care of it any more. His name is Larry the Lizard and he loves it when you sing 80's ballads. Thank you my friend for taking on this responsibility.

This is another one that I thought looked cool. Unfortunately there were only two photo's out of about 150 that I liked. However, I learned a lot and I think I'm ready for the actual bigger fireworks that will be on July 1st.

Day 171/365 - My First Attempt At Capturing Fireworks

Ok, so I'm not the best at photographing Fireworks.... Yet ;). Right not I am learning to shoot at night with manual settings. None of this auto exposure setting stuff you see in point and shoot cameras. Not that they're bad, photography is an art/science. Anyways, if you have any tips for me or any comments, please let me know. I think I will have a couple more of these in the coming days.

Day 170/365 - Testing 1...2...3...

I was in the street setting up to shoot some local fireworks (not the kind the city does, but the kind a local police officer on that lives on my street has, don't get me started). As I was setting up, I was taking some test shots to see how some low light photo's would look. This isn't a shot of fireworks today, but if any came out half decent I will include them on another day. It will take time to go through the hundreds of photo's I took. Anyways, I shot a street light trying to see what the current settings on my camera would give me. Shooting in low light can be tricky. I hope you like it. I was really testing my abilities for when the real fireworks come to town.

Day 169/365 - A Walk In The Park, No Sitting Allowed

I was walking with my wife and kids in a park called Holmes Field. It was an awesome day for a stroll with the family. We saw what looked like a bench, but with weeds and grass growing through every nook and cranny. Look at the size of those leaves. I guess the City of Worcester hired the wrong landscaping crew.

My son and I went on a photo walk and found this wabbit. So I shot it... With my camera of course. No guns were involved.
No animals were harmed in the shooting of this photo.

Day 164/365 - Hey There Little Guy!

This little guy was outside my home office window. I know i have another shot of a squirrel, but this one was so close. I was able to get the details like his whiskers, his mouth which looks like he's smiling and even his acorn that he is munching on.

Day 163/365 - Decorated Fan

I did the decorating for the party the other day. I put streamers on the ceiling fan in the family room. Looked like a cool photo opportunity. It shows motion of the fan even when I freeze it with a photo.

Day 162/365 - Making A Wish

Today we had my son's 8th birthday party. I captured a bunch of photo's of it of course, but this one of him making his birthday wish was priceless. I just hope he didn't wish for the keys to my car. He more likely wished for 100 more wishes.

The wind was blowing so hard it was difficult to hold my camera up to the sky. These clouds rolled in so fast, it looked like something out of the movies. I was able to get a few shots in and then I ran into the house. I'm not stupid. ;)

Day 158/365 - Holding A Ball Of Light

I can't take credit for this photo idea. My friend /johngotts experimented with this type of effect.
I pointed the camera at my recessed light in my studio and placed my hand in front of the camera trying to create the effect of holding a ball of light. When I saw John take this photo, it inspired me. Thanks John!

Day 156/365 - We All Scream For...

Ok, so the ice cream truck actually for once came well before dinner time. Usually they would drive down the street right before the kids needed to eat and they were really hungry. Here is a photo of my kids trying to decide what they want from this M.D.D. (Mobile Dairy Dispenser).

Day 154/365 - Lonely Cloud

After a long day at work, I was home laying down in my driveway, because that's what we do and I noticed there was only one cloud in the sky. It was originally shaped as a heart, but by the time I got my iPhone on and got he app open, it lost that shape. But I did manage to get a good lighting effect from the sun on the left. Maybe a little lens flare, which I think is cool looking.

Day 153/365 - While Driving Home!

I was driving home today after running a quick errand so I started up my camera app on my iPhone looking for something to take a quick shot of. Sure, texting/surfing the internet and driving is illegal, but I was doing neither. When will they have a no photo taking law while driving?

I edited this photo like crazy, but I think the final product looks good. Let me know what you think.

Day 152/365 - Does This Shadow Make My Butt Look Big?

They say pin stripes make you look thinner, so I added some to this shadow photo of me ;) There's a little humor for you to last the rest of the week. I took this with my iPhone and edited with the 100 Cameras in 1 iPad app. Great app by the way! I miss my Nikon D40! :(
