Day 59/365 - Shredded Memories

There are a lot of memories in a pile of shredded paper, but they only memories of the person who did the shredding. If you were to look at this photo and tell me three things from it what would they be?

Here are three things I see...
1. The distinctive Verizon Wireless bill that I found one day when cleaning out old bills.
2. The recent credit card that I didn't need any more since the new one was just delivered.
3. My resume that was printed on 25% Cotton Fiber that I no longer need because I have a kick ass job!

They say a picture says a thousand words. How many words are in a photo of shredded paper?

58/365 - Actions Still Speak Louder Than Words

So we have this left over valentines day candy. I thought I would put a bunch in a bowl and take a shot of them. What is your favorite one from this photo?

Also, how come when growing up, I remember these heart shape candies having better alignment? What I mean is most of these have words running off the heart, and some are just not centered where it looks like someone was just freaking lazy. Some are smudged, not all there or just plain BLAH! Also, I'm not sure if they had the "Yes Dear" one when I was a kid.

Day 57/365 - New Meaning To "Cold Feet"

It was about 20 degrees this morning and there was still a dusting of snow on the ground. My daughter thought it was a good idea to go on the deck and play, but she forgot her socks and shoes. She quietly went outside, almost ninja like. She then comes running into the house covering up her feet in a blanket. There I sat on the couch wondering what she was doing. Later on that morning, I walked by the deck door and saw these cute little foot prints in the snow. I'm not sure she learned her lesson though, because she did it again.

Day 56/365 - "Living Within Our Means"

My dad asked me to take a photo of his election sign so I thought I would make it my Day 56 photo. He has been doing a great job as selectman for my home town and I wish him all the luck for when he is re-elected!

Great work dad, keep up the good work!

Day 55/365 - Sure is cold in here!

Well I thought since the camera was in the clothes dryer and hot enough where it almost melted, I figured putting it in the fridge would cool it off fast. I probably shouldn't have forgotten about it though. I guess that's one way to freeze a moment in time. ;)

Raise your hand if you see a pattern of photo's ;) More to come!

Day 54/365 - I Put What In The Laundry???

Have you ever put your wallet, your car keys or even a USB thumb-drive in the wash? Well those are easy since they were most likely in your pants pocket. My question is how did my Canon Power-Shot SD1000 point and shoot camera make it in there? Can you tell by the photo that I was surprised? Ok, so I never went to acting school. I even tried to add drama by making it black & white. Tell me what you think.

Day 52/365 - Hanging Axe

It's sad to say that I haven't picked this thing up in a long time and jammed. I will make it my mission to setup the effects, the amp and the recording equipment and rock this axe out very soon!

Day 51/365 - Reflect On This

Some people say they can see right through me. Well here's a photo that proves that along with the fact that I'm not a vampire.

I had fun with this photo. I wanted to show refection, but I had to take it one step further. I am showing the reflection of myself and a room I am in along with my deck outside. I used the sliding glass door to perform the reflection by turning on the light of the room I was in and waiting until it got dark enough outside to show the desired effect.

A friend of mine did a cool photo show both his face and his reflection of his face in a mirror at an angle. I think I will try that at some point.

You would think that after more than 50 days of doing this, I would run out of ideas. But they just keep coming to me. I hope you enjoy!

Day 50/365 - Happy Birthday Mom

We celebrated my mom's birthday today. She got a lot of great gifts. If you know her, you know she is a collector of salt & pepper shakers and loves to solve jigsaw puzzles. My niece gave my mom this great gift she made herself. Great work Becky and very appropriate.

Day 49/365 - Lincoln Logs

I can remember hours upon hours of fun with Lincoln Logs when I was a kid. It makes me smile to see my kids play with them.

When taking photos, I try to focus on capturing textures and patterns. It can be challenging, but it is also very rewarding. I will be focusing more on textures throughout the year. I hope you enjoy!

Day 48/365 - A Money Shot

I try to be very organized when it comes to money. I take it as far as separate different containers for my pocket change. I know it sounds crazy, but so is trying to separate pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters when they are all mixed up together. So I have four separate containers. I do this so that I can roll them up and take them to the bank. I know there are money machines at the local grocery store, but they take a cut. If you bring them to the bank, they just either deposit them or give you bills. I once took over $300.00 in pocket change to the bank just because I had it built up for a long time. It's almost time for another trip there soon! I just need to make sure i wrap them up. A good tip is next time you are at the bank, and I don't mean online, ask them for a bunch of money rolls. They usually have no problem giving them out. Don't go out and buy them, that's a waste of money.

Day 47/365 - Thirty Lights

I have a desk lamp that has thirty Light Emitting Diodes (LED's) that looked pretty cool when shooting directly into them. LED's tend to be very bright which gave the effect of nothing else around it when a lens is pointed directly at it. I didn't have to edit the photo. What I shot is what you see here. I think lights are one of my favorite things to photograph. Maybe I'll try some halogen bulbs next.

Day 46/365 - A Greener Brighter Idea

My New Years resolution besides finishing this project was to try to change 1 thing in my life a month that would make me and my family greener and more environmentally conscious. It could be as simple as changing out some light bulbs with lower energy ones, which I did in the bathrooms. Here is a photo of my "Bright Idea".

If you made a change to be greener, please share it with me.

Day 44/365 - Colorful Science Experiment

My son found a science experiment online where you take milk, food coloring and dish washing soap and make a really cool marble effect. You can find the steps on how to do this at

along with an explanation of why it happens.

What do you see in this photo?

Day 43/365 - Color in Black & White

The idea of this photo was to take something colorful and shoot it in black & white. So a bunch of Crayola Crayons seemed to be the perfect choice. Let me know what you think!

Day 42/365 - Pez Dispenser Collection

I remember having Pez Dispensers when I was a child. Here is a photo of my kids Pez Dispensers all mixed up together. Did you have a favorite one when you were a child? Which one? Mine was Sylvester the cat. They have all kinds today. Read more at  en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pez_Dispensers.

Day 41/365 - Sinimin Froot Loops

My kids love to add a bunch of ingredients to something to make a special treat. What sounds completely disgusting to the adult ear, sounds really yummy to a child's ear. I have included my kids famous Sinimin Froot Loops along with the ingredients they used written by my son Ryan (7 1/2 yrs old).

WARNING: If you get grossed out easily, you may want to wait until tomorrow's photo! I'm planning on photographing severed rat heads. Just kidding.

Day 40/365 - Get Your Brownies Here

Here is a yummy looking photo of an item being sold at tomorrow's bake sale at my son's school. My wife always participates in bake sales to get funding for his school. But if cities knew how to spend money, then maybe this wouldn't be necessary. Come on Worcester, this one bake sale will bring in $200.00 or maybe $300.00 if they're lucky. Are you telling me Worcester can't chip in? Maybe Worcester and other towns and cities can recognize these types of fund raisers and match what they bring in dollar for dollar. Is that a lot to ask for?

Another thing that bugs the heck out of me is for the school my son attends and soon my daughter, there are only about 20 parents that donate baked goods and volunteer for the day. That is 20 parents out of 500 families. Am I missing something here? How about instead of an unrecognized bake sale, why don't families step forward and donate $1.00. That is change in your car, or in your seat cushion at home. If this happens on a monthly basis, then that is $500.00 per month for the public school your children are attending for free plus the taxes you pay which never seem to find their way to the school system at least from I can tell. $1.00 a month is really not a lot to ask for.

Thank you to everyone who participates in the fund raisers and I hope more people step up to the plate for their children.

Anyways... That is enough ranting for today. I hope you enjoy this photo. These brownies will bring in about $18.00 to the school and an additional $18.00 donated from me if they all sell, which I don't doubt that they will.

Day 39/365 - Life Saver

Can you believe Life Saver candy started in 1912. I grew up with this candy. My grandparents always had these when we went to visit them. Read more about this famous candy and how it came about at  en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Life_Savers. What are your memories of this candy?

Day 37/365 - Super Bowl XLV, Packers Take It!

All I can say is, what a great game! I was kind of hoping for Greenbay to win because I don't have a Steelers shot glass in my collection. I think I can get one pretty cheap now!

Day 35/365 - Life's Greatest Treasures

I think this describes what I am actually doing with this project. With each photo I take, I am capturing memories. For example; why I chose to take a specific photo of something, or where I was when I took the photo. The easiest or simplest pleasures are memories, and that to me is a treasure.

Ok, so there wasn't a corny joke, or a funny photo, but come on, we can't joke around all the time. Don't let this fool ya, I have plenty more corny jokes to tell in my journey to 365 photos!

I was searching around the house to see what I could take a photo of next. As I kept looking and looking, I finally found my "inspiration". Strange how that works ;)

Day 32/365 - I'm Talking About the...

I've always wanted to take a good photo of a mirror, but someone always gets in the way. It's weird because he is always there and I can never fool him. Please give me any tips on how to trick the man in the mirror.
