Day 151/365 - Flower Shot at Parents 3/3

Here is the final shot of the flowers at my parents. I can't wait to get my DSLR back so I can take some landscape photos that my iPhone just can't do very well.

Day 149/365 - Flower Shot at Parents 1/3

I took a few shots of flowers at my parents house today. I will post one a day for this sub-project. Here is the first one I selected. Since my DSLR camera is still in the shop, I used my iPhone for this. The key to taking a good photo with an iPhone is having plenty of light. Being outside using the sun's natural light helps the iPhone tremendously. I am really getting into post processing, so I sharpened this up, and brought out some of the color. Let me know what you think.

Day 148/365 - It's Nice Outside

Here is a photo of my daughter as she looks out the window at the beautiful day. We went out and the kids had a blast. I thought this photo was pretty neat and making it black and white added so much to the composition.

Day 147/365 - Waste Not, Want Not

Here lies a bagel. It didn't stand a chance against the enamel of my daughters teeth and the neglect thereafter. If only I got there a little sooner, I could have eaten the rest of it. Now once delicious bagel covered in this buttery substance, may you rest in pieces as you journey through my sink's garbage disposal.

Day 146/365 - 500 Degrees

Today was a perfect day to cook burgers on the grill. As I was cooking, I figured I would take a snap shot of the thermometer on the front of the grill. 500 degrees? Wow that's hot! I got so close to the grill with my iPhone that I thought it was going to melt out of my hands.

Day 145/365 - By The Billions

!365mike Does this thing look familiar? If not, try multiplying by a billion. These are what you see when you look outside in my yard. They're everywhere. They do look cool as they fall to the ground.

Day 144/365 - Wooded Area

Since my Nikon DSLR is in the repair shop for a good cleaning, I will be using my iPhone for the next couples of weeks. Here is an area in my back yard.

Day 143/365 - RRRRRibit

Here's a statue of a frog that has been through a lot of weather in my dad's backyard. I liked the surrounding green leaves, which really add to the photo.

Day 142/365 - Clouds at Lunchtime

We were at a family lunch and since I requested a table near a window as I always do, I noticed this beautiful scenery in the sky. Let me know what you think.

Day 141/365 - Pay Phone?

Today my son Ryan was selling American flags to raise money for his scout pack, Pack70 of Worcester Massachusetts. He started playing with this pay phone that was nearby. I figured I probably would never see him ever using one for real, so I took the shot. I can't believe that there are still pay phones in existence. When I was Ryan's age, a local phone call was 10 cents. The phone Ryan was using said 50 cents. WOW! What a difference. I guess cell phones and the internet have really put a damper on the pay phone industry.

Day 140/365 - Top of Tulip

I thought I would get a photo of this before it goes away. Used my iPhone for this shot and a little post processing.

Day 138/365 - Playing with Rotation

This was a simple iPhone photo I took outside my work's building. It's amazing the difference just some rotation makes to add an artistic effect. At least that's what I was trying to do. Remember, photo art is not just pointing and shooting. Always take many shots and work on the art part when you post process them. Taking multiple shots used to be expensive with film cameras. It cost nothing now, so what do you have to lose?

Day 137/365 - Another Moon Attempt

Here is another attempt shooting the moon. I can't seem to get a full moon with the weather lately, so this one will have to do. I took it a few days ago when it was clear out. I think I'm getting better at it. Tell me what you think.

Day 136/365 - Hanging Around

I saw this little guy hanging from his tail, so I quickly took the shot. Unfortunately I was shooting through tinted glass, but I wanted to share this with everyone.

Apple Products are great but...

With the new addition to my gadget family, the MacBook Pro has proven to be well worth the money. However, when I got it home I expected to be able to hook it up to my desktop monitor to use dual screens which would you would think would be easy to do. I mean, ever since I have used a PC laptop, and that is for many many years, I was able to just plug the VGA cable from my monitor directly into the laptop and it worked immediately. Since I am not up to snuff on how Apple treats it's customers, although I should be since I own an iPhone and iPad, I did not realize that Apple would stiff me a cable for connecting the MacBook to my monitor. After spending too much money (about 2 1/2 times more than a PC laptop) you would think they would throw in the freaking $20.00 cable.

Don't get me wrong, they make a really nice laptop computer, I just wish they weren't trying to nickel and dime their customers. It's just not right. But I guess if people are buying the products and the accessories, then they will continue to try to screw us out of a few more dollars.

Am I whining? Yes of course. Will it matter? Probably not. But I am here to let others that have not yet decided to hop on the Apple band wagon and let them know what to expect. I mean if the freaking "Genius" as they call them, told me that I needed an extra cable to hook to a monitor at some point, I would have known that before i opened the box at home to be disappointed. Wouldn't you think Apple wants the customer to be happy when opening the box. They sure make it look pretty when you do.

OK, that's my rant for today. Until next time. Help Ya Later!

Day 135/365 - Yellow Daisy

I tried to bring out the yellow in this flower and enhanced the the shadows. Let me know what you think. If you have suggestions on how I could make a photo like this better, please let me know. I love constructive criticism.

Day 133/365 - Work Plant

While I was at the office today I decided to take a break from my awesome job. So I went outside to get some air and soak up some vitamin D on this beautiful day. I saw this plant/shrub and wasn't sure what the name of it was. If you know, please respond to this post.

Day 131/365 - Back Yard Trees

Here is a photo while looking up at the trees in my back yard. I think a fisheye lens would make this photo look cool.

Our neighbor has a nice little bird house. I never see any birds going in or out of it. Hmmmmm, very suspicious.

Day 129/365 - I Do Not Recommend Doing This

Folks, do not try this at home. This is performed by a trained professional, or someone who is just too curious for his own good health. Looking straight into the sun through a camera lens isn't the brightest idea (pardon the pun). I have to admit, I saw spots for about 30 minutes after i took the shot. It still hurts when I look at this photo..

After the pain and some light room editing, I think it looks pretty cool. Not necessarily art, but it was fun working with it. So I hope you enjoy this photo, if not, then the pain was for nothing. ;)

Day 128/365 - Playing Nicely Together

Here are Jenna and Ryan playing nicely together. Looks like Ryan is showing her how to play something on a Nintendo DS game. Or Jenna is cheating. ;)

I took this photo with my iPhone with very low light in the room. Little help from Lightroom, and viola!

Day 127/365 - Water on Window

I took this photo with my iPhone right after the rain fell. We were inside a local fast food place. I loved the look of the clouds, but the rain drops on the window and the reflection of the room we were in added so much to the photo.

Day 126/365 - Colorful Stone

When we had our addition put on our house, the builder took out a huge rock our and put it further into our back yard. So I took a photo of it and applied some effects, and viola. Art was born! Hope you enjoy, I have received many flattering comments on the past few photos. I really do appreciate all the kind words! Thank you!

Day 125/365 - Above The Clouds

I had fun with this photo. First I took a normal photo of the clouds from the ground. I then imported it into my iPad and used Trey Ratcliff's 100 Cameras in 1 App to give it the affect of being above the clouds. Let me know what you think.

Here is my attempt at art. Not sure how good it is, but I took a photo of some clouds, brought the photo into Adobe Photoshop Lightroom, and did some enhancements. Honest opinions please????

Day 123/365 - The Day Bed

Mission one was successful. My Son finally sleeps in his own bed. The next mission was to get my daughter a new bed because she has outgrown her toddler bed. Yes I know what you thinking, she is 5 years old and we had a toddler bed still. Well, for the longest time, she was sleeping either in my bed or on the couch in the great room. So we just put together this nice day bed for her room. I'm not sure why they call it a day bed when most people sleep during the night, but it matches her other furniture in her room. She is now sleeping in that bed as I type this post. I am hoping she stays in it all night.

Day 122/365 - Way To Go U.S. Military

Today, May 2, 2011, almost ten years after the terrorist try to change our way of life and failed, we have prevailed. Thanks to all those that put their life on the line to protect us and to bring the coward Osama bin Laden to justice. Here is a photo I took a few days ago. I thought even though I was looking through branches, that the photo was pretty good. You tell me?
